Wilmington Volleyball to Host 2019 Wildcat Regional Invitational, Three Tournaments in September as Schedule is Announced

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team will kick off the 2019 season with three tournament weekends in September before setting its sights on the bulk of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference campaign as 16th year head coach Kim Huggins-Habbert announces the 2019 schedule.

The Wildcats returned to the CACC Tournament in 2018 after a two-year hiatus. The Wildcats went 19-14 overall, finishing fourth in the CACC South Division with a 13-6 mark.

September starts with a four-game swing to Rockville Centre and Queens, New York, beginning with Molloy and Saint Rose on Saturday, September 7. After games against Franklin Pierce and Queens on Sunday, the Wildcats return home to host their annual Wildcat Regional Invitational at the WU Athletics Complex on September 13-14.

During their home tournament, the Wildcats will face off against some of the top teams in the Northeast 10 Conference, including Le Moyne, defending NCAA East Regional Champion American International, NCAA participant Adelphi, and Franklin Pierce.

The final tournament of the will take place in Amherst, New York, as the Wildcats head to defending East Coast Conference Champions Daemen for the Daemen Volleyball Classic. The Wildcats will play Glenville State, Daemen, Salem International, and Pace.

September closes out with the start of the CACC schedule as they head to Goldey-Beacom to begin before hosting Georgian Court on Thursday September 26. Homecoming Saturday wraps up the month, as the Wildcats host USciences inside the Complex at 11:00 a.m.

In CACC play, the Wildcats will play South Division opponents both home and away, including Jefferson, defending CACC Champs Holy Family, Chestnut Hill, Goldey-Beacom, Georgian Court, and USciences.

Playing the North Division teams only once, the Wildcats will host Bloomfield, Dominican, and Felician while taking to the road to face Nyack, Concordia, Post, and close out the regular season at Caldwell on Saturday, November 16. The team's final nonconference competition will be on Saturday, October 19 when they play against Southern New Hampshire and Mercy at Mercy College.

The Wildcats will look to be one of the top four teams in the South Division in order to make it back to the CACC Tournament.

The CACC tournament begins with the First Round game on Tuesday, November 19 at the higher seed. The Semifinals and Championship will take place at Holy Family in Philadelphia, with a champion to be crowned on Sunday, November 24.
