Men’s Soccer and Women’s Volleyball Claim CACC Weekly Honorees

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a perfect week for the Wilmington University men's soccer team and women's volleyball teams, three student-athletes were named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, which was announced by the conference office on Monday.

Abdul Mansaray was named CACC Player of the Week for the first time this season, helping men's soccer to a 2-0 record last week. Bailey Andrews earned Player of the Week for the second time this year for women's volleyball, while teammate Sarah Couch earned CACC Setter of the Week after both helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 sweep last week.

Mansaray (London, England/William Ellis) scored four goals last week on 11 shots, to go along with one assist to earn the weekly honors. The senior scored the first goal of the game against Staten Island, before connecting again in the 60th minute for his second goal of the game to help lead the Wildcats to a 6-0 victory. In the Wildcats game against Bloomfield, he scored back-to-back goals, while making an assist for their second straight shutout of the week. The forward currently sits second in the CACC behind teammate Lorne Bickley with 10 goals on the year, while also ranking second in the conference with 25 points. Mansaray is one of three Wildcats that sits in the top five in assists, tying for third with five, as well as ranking fourth in the league with 38 shots.

Bailey Andrews (Owings Mills, Md./Roland Park) earned the weekly honors for women's volleyball after totaling 45 kills, 15 digs, and seven blocks last week. She recorded double-digit kills in all matches, including 12 kills and five digs in the Wildcats 3-0 sweep of Holy Family, while putting up 15 kills and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Chestnut Hill. The junior finished out the week tying a season-high 18 kills and seven digs to help the Wildcats comeback and defeat Nyack, 3-1. With only nine errors, she finished the week hitting .404 percent, totaling 4.09 kills per set throughout 11 sets played. She is currently seventh in the CACC with 2.98 kills per set and 10th in the league with 179 kills on the year.

Sophomore Sarah Couch (Pasadena, Md./Archbishop Spalding) earned CACC Setter of the Week honors for the second time this year, as well. She dished out 136 assists last week, finishing with 12.36 assists per set. She started the week with 37 assists in the Wildcats victory over Holy Family, before recording a career-high 50 assists in the Wildcats 3-1 win over Chestnut Hill. She was one short of tying her career-high again in their 3-1 win over Nyack, putting up 49 assists, while securing a double-double with 10 digs. She also totaled 24 digs and two service aces throughout the three matches. Couch is second in the CACC with 9.85 assists per set and ranks third in the conference with 0.56 service aces per set.
