Wildcats Sweep Felician for Third Straight Win on Senior Day

NEWARK, Del. – Going for their third straight win, the Wilmington University volleyball team swept Felician, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex for Senior Day.

Set scores for the match were, 25-22, 25-18, and 25-12.

Wilmington (18-11, 10-5 CACC) got out to a fast start against Felician (13-14, 11-3 CACC), as they opened a 10-3 lead thanks to a five-point run started by freshman Dorie Moore. The Wildcats held a 13-7 lead, but the Golden Falcons were able to fight six consecutive points off to tie the set up at 13 apiece. The set would tie five more times, but the Wildcats scored four straight points to retake the lead and fight off the Golden Falcons to take set one, 25-22.

Felician would take a 4-2 lead to begin set number two, but senior Rebecca Rawlinson got Wilmington started on a four-point run off a kill to help the Wildcats take their first lead of the set, 6-4. Felician would only come within one point, making it 8-7, as the Wildcats remained in front for the rest of the set, including a five-point run that included two kills from Angel Oliver and Dorie Moore.

Senior Emma Kongevold gave the Wildcats their first point of the third set on a kill before an attacking error by the Golden Falcons tied the set up at 2-2. Felician would have the lead by two, until Kongevold started a five-point run for the Wildcats to help take a 12-9 lead. The Golden Falcons fought off one point, but Wilmington would score seven consecutive points to lead by nine, 19-10. They would finish out the set on an 18-3 run and would be capped off by senior Rebecca Rawlinson to capture the 25-12 win.

Rebecca Rawlinson led the Wildcats with nine kills, four digs, and five blocks. Angel Oliver added eight kills for a .500 hitting percentage with two block assists, as Mandy Behiels had seven kills.

Dorie Moore recorded six kills, five digs, and two blocks, as Elly Collins had 24 digs in the back row. Sophomore Sarah Couch secured a double-double dishing out 30 assists, while grabbing 14 digs.

The Wildcats out blocked the Golden Falcons, 10-1, while having eight service aces.

Wilmington will head to Chestnut Hill on Tuesday evening for a CACC matchup. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
