Bentdal, Prgomet, and Collins Earn Spot on CACC Weekly Reports

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Heading into the stretch run of their respective fall seasons, the Wilmington University men's soccer and volleyball teams placed student-athletes on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week lists, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Playing their final regular season contests last week, the men's soccer team placed Fredrik Bentdal and Gabriel Prgomet on the report while volleyball freshman Elly Collins was picked for the volleyball report.

Fredrik Bentdal was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, scoring a goal while dishing out two assists in helping the team not allow a goal in two matches. The senior midfielder assisted on the first goal of the game against Goldey-Beacom, sending in a corner allowing Joe Bell to head it home to start a 3-0 victory. Bentdal then scored in the 51st minute at Concordia and assisted on Shawn Genus' goal in the 67th minute in route to a 5-0 victory in the regular season finale. Bentdal is second in the CACC with 10 assists and 13th overall with 16 points.

Gabriel Prgomet did not allow a goal in 180 minutes last week, upping his season mark to eight shutouts on the year, tying the single season program mark set by Frank Hall in 2015. He made two saves in a 3-0 shutout against Goldey-Beacom, and then made four stops in a 5-0 victory at Concordia in the regular season finale. Prgomet currently leads the CACC in only allowing 14 goals on the year, carrying a league best 0.77 goals against average into the postseason, and is fourth overall with a .754 save percentage.

On the volleyball court, freshman libero Elly Collins was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. In two victories, Collins picked up 51 digs, averaging 7.29 digs per set. In the 3-1 victory at USciences, Collins collected 27 digs while adding two aces on the road. On Saturday, the freshman picked up 24 digs in a sweep of North Division leading Felician, adding two more aces as well. She leads the CACC with 537 digs on the year, ranking fourth overall in picking up 5.02 digs per set.

Men's soccer's Abdul Mansaray was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring two goals and adding an assist in two games. Senior middle hitter Rebecca Rawlinson was also named to the Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 3.43 kills per set on a .422 attack percentage and nine total blocks (1.29 per set).
