HOPKINTON, N.H. - - Sophomore sensation Isaac Ndirangu continues to impress for the Wilmington University cross country team, earning medalist honors as the teams competed at the Fourth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup hosted by Franklin Pierce at the Hopkinton State Fair Grounds.

Ndirangu led the men's team to a fourth place finish with 109 points in an NCAA Division II East Region Preview event, while the women finished 10^th overall with 252 points on Saturday.

The Wildcats were one of two teams to have two runners in the Top 10 in the men's race, as senior Ken Fontal followed Ndirangu's first place finish with a sixth place finish. Southern New Hampshire was the other school, finishing with three student-athletes in the Top 10. The Penmen and Bentley tied for the lead with 70 points with Adelphia placing third with 78 points.

Ndirangu beat the field of 127 runners with a time of 25:49.1, beating the second place unattached runner by 1.1 second. Saint Rose's Rastafari Morgan was the second collegiate athlete to finish, crossing the line 12.5 seconds behind Ndirangu.

Fontal was within a minute of Ndirangu, finishing seventh overall but the sixth scoring student-athlete in 26:28.4. Miguel Suerro gave the Wildcats 27 points with a 29^th place finish, crossing the line in 27:31.4. Johnathan Avila was the fourth Wildcat to score, finishing 39^th overall for 37 points with a time of 28:13.9. Korey Jeffries finished out the Wildcats score with 38 points, finishing just behind Avila in 28:16.7.

Manuel Suero finished 46^th overall for the Wildcats with a time of 28:35.1 while Logan Brady placed 56^th with a time of 29:05.4. Zach Panza made his Wilmington debut with an 89^th place finish, crossing the line in 30:20.9 while Jayven Davis rounded out the Wildcats on the course with a 125^th place finish in 36:46.5.

The women's team was led by freshman Gabrielle Brown's 52^nd place finish, earning the team 42 points in a time of 21:23.4. Tori Vickers wasn't far off Brown's lead, finishing 55^th overall with 45 points in a time of 21:28.0.

Rachel Jones placed 65^th overall and earned the team 52 points, crossing the line in 21:48.1. Freshman Emily Kockott finished 69^th overall for 56 points, finishing in 21:52.7 while graduate student Joelle Prettyman closed out the Wildcat scoring with a 70^th place finish for 57 points, crossing the line in 21:57.1.

Nicole Brevoort placed 94^th in the event, running the 5K in 22:35.0 while Tara Langan finished 101^st overall in 22:52.0. Tori Crawford closed out the Wildcats with a 129^th place finish, finishing in 26:15.3.

Merrimack won the women's event with 66 points, followed by Bentley's 85. Adelphi rounded out the Top 3 with 120 points. Southern Connecticut State's Natasha Fitzpatrick earned medalist honors with a time of 18:59.3.

The Wildcats are off next weekend but return to action on October 1 when they travel to the famed Don Cathcart Invitational. The even is held at Winter Place Park and hosted by Salisbury University with the women kicking things off at 9:45 a.m.
