NEWARK, Del. - - Hosting their 17th annual Invite and taking part in the Don Cathcart and Jack St. Claire Invitational highlight the fall season as Wilmington Cross Country head coach Keith Jones announces the 2017 schedule.

With the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships in their sights the men's and women's teams will compete in five meets throughout the 2017 season. The men will look to defend their CACC title as the women will look to improve on their sixth place finish from last year.

Jones will open the season, as he typically does, when they play host to their 17th annual WUXC Invite on Saturday, September 2, at Carousel Park. They will stay close to home as they take a short drive to White Clay Creek State Park to take part in the University of Delaware Invitational #1 on September 9. The Wildcats then take to the road as they head to Kutztown, Pa., to run in the Division II/III Challenge on the campus of Kutztown University on September 16. The Cats will close out the month of September competing in the notable Don Cathcart Invitational at Winter Park Place in Salisbury, Md., on Saturday September 30.

The month of October has the Cats participating in the traditionally tough Jack St. Clair Invitational held at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa., on October 7.  That Invitational will be the final tune-up as the Cats will have two weeks until they will compete in the CACC Championship at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, Del., on Sunday, October 22.

This year's NCAA Division II East Regional Championship will be held at Delaware Park GC in Buffalo, N.Y.  The Cats will be looking to punch their ticket to the NCAA National Championships at Angel Mounds Course in Evansville, Ind., on November 18 by placing in one of the three spots in each regional race to advance.
