Tubo, Brown, and Slate Earn First CACC Players of the Week Honor for Wilmington in 2018-19

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - With the fall season in full swing in Newark, Delaware, three individuals stuck out above the rest as they were named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week.

Women's soccer's Kate Tubo was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, volleyball's Jenna Brown was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, and cross country's Grace Slate was named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

Tubo led the women's soccer team to a 1-1 week, making 0 stops while only allowing two goals with a .833 save percentage. In the season opener against nationally No. 15 Adelphi, Tubo made three stops to keep the Wildcats in striking distance in a 1-0 loss. In the team's second match of the year on Monday, the senior goalkeeper made seven saves, allowing the team to come from behind for the 2-1 victory.

Brown collected double digit digs in each of the four matches over the weekend, including a weekend's high 23 in the opening match against Florida Tech. She totaled 64 digs for the weekend, averaging 4.27 digs per set. She picked up 15 against Catawba, 14 against West Texas A&M, and 12 at Rollins. She also added eight service aces over the weekend, collected a weekend's best four against West Texas A&M.

Slate paced the Wildcat women to a team victory in the 18th Annual WUXC Invite on Saturday, finishing second overall in her collegiate debut. She ran the 5K course in 20:46.1. She held a 6:41 mile pace on the tough course, earning the Wildcats two points towards their total.

Men's soccer's Fredrik Bentdal was named to the Honor Roll for scoring two goals in two goals while women's soccer Cassidy McErlain was also named to the Honor Roll after scoring the game-winner against Daemen. Men's cross country freshman Brandon Cruz was the final Wildcat named, earning a spot on the Honor Roll after finishing second in the men's 8K at the 18th Annual WUXC Invite.
