
NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's cross country team doesn't open its season until September 20 at the Delaware Invitational but are already in the regional spotlight, being ranked No. 8 in the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Preseason Poll.
The men are the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champions, winning the postseason race for the seventh time in 2023. They ran to a 13th place finish at the NCAA East Regional Championships last fall.
The Wildcats return three All-CACC performers from a season ago, including Trent Taylor who placed 18th at the Regional Championship to earn All-East Region. Carter Sparwasser and Dan Wyshinski were also All-CACC performers from a season ago who return to the squad in 2024.
Wilmington will run at the Delaware Invitational on Friday, September 20 and at the Harry Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, New York, on Saturday, September 28. The CACC Championship will be held on Sunday, October 27 on Belmont Plateau.
