PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University baseball team will be playing for their consecutive Bill Giles Invitational Championship on Tuesday when they play West Chester in the final at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The Wildcats have won the Invitational four times overall, first in 2007, and then in 2014, 2018, and 2019. The Tournament was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, so the Wildcats are still the two-time defending champions.
Wilmington defeated USciences, 11-8, in the first game of their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference series on April 5, to advance to the Championship on Tuesday. West Chester defeated Jefferson, 13-5, in their First Round game on March 24.
Tickets to the game can be purchased at Home Plate ticketing windows at Citizens Bank Park prior to the game. Tickets are $5.00 each. Entrance to the ballpark will be at Home Plate VIP Entrance. Parking can be found in the Phillies "P" lot, which is located on Darien Street.
Tuesday will be the 10th time the Wildcats will play at Citizens Bank Park for the Championship of the Bill Giles Invitational in its NCAA DII era. The Wildcats are 4-5 at Citizens Bank Park overall and 2-4 against West Chester in the Final.
Wilmington will be the Home team and occupy the First Base dugout while West Chester will be the visitors in the Third Base dugout.
