WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - - The third and final round of the Dixie State Island Invitational was washed away on Tuesday, resulting in the Wilmington University golf team to finish second overall after two rounds of play.
Heavy rains on the Big Island forced the third round to be cancelled on Tuesday. As a result, host Dixie State University won the tournament by five strokes over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats shot a 295-284 for a 579 (+3), only trailing the Trailblazers who put up rounds of 285 and 289 for a 574 (-2) on Monday.
The Wildcats remain in Hawaii for their next tournament, as they take part in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Kings' Course starting on Friday. The two-day, three-round tournament will be hosted by Hawaii at Hilo.
