    The Wildcats overcame a slow start to overtake Chestnut Hill, 70-63, with a hot shooting second half on Wednesday for Senior Night. Prior to the game, the fans program recognized Brian Adkins, Taj Almon, Drew Johnson II, and Tyaire Ponzo-Meek for all their work while donning the green and white. All four of em showed up on Wednesday night, as Ponzo-Meek led the team with 19 points despite not hitting a shot from the field in the first half. Johnson hit three three-pointers for 16 points while Adkins hit a big three-pointer to start the second half and tie the game. Almon added to the hot start in the second half with a big block, finishing the game with three blocks, six points, and five boards. A 7-0 run gave the Wildcats a 42-40 lead before another 5-0 run ended a 12-2 spurt to put the Wildcats on top for good, 47-42, halfway through the second half. The Wildcats are tied for second and only a game behind Philadelphia for first place in the CACC South Division with two games to play.     The Wildcats survived a slugfest with Holy Family, 92-90, in CACC South Division action on Tuesday night at the WU Athletics Complex. The Wildcats needed to come up with a stop at the buzzer as Holy Family's game-winning three-pointer was well short. The Wildcats led wire-to-wire but needed to hold on down the stretch despite being ahead by 15 points with 5:20 left in regulation. Wilmington's high scoring duo of Tyaire Ponzo-Meek and Nick Richards out dueled the Tigers' and CACC's two leading scorings Dyllon Hudson-Emory and Randy Bell. Ponzo-Meek finished with 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists while Richards added 20 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Although Bell scored 36 for the Tigers, the CACC's leading scorer Hudson-Emory was held to 15 points. Omari Dill-Pettiford added 15 points for the Wildcats while Masner Beauplan also chipped in with 14 points and three assists.     The Wildcats were dialed into the long-distanced shots in the first half on Wednesday night against Georgian Court, leading to an 81-62 CACC victory. The Wildcats went 10-of-1 from deep in the first half alone, opening a 52-30 halftime lead that the Lions could never come back from. Tyaire Ponzo-Meek was perfect from distance in the first half, shooting 4-of-4 while Omari Dill-Pettiford wasn't far beyond, shooting 4-of-6 from deep in the first half. Ponzo-Meek finished with a game-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the field for the game, including 7-of-8 from three-point land. Dill-Pettiford scored 16 of his 18 in the first half while Nick Richards added 17 points. Brian Adkins came off the bench to add 12 points, hitting a pair of three-pointers as well.     A strong start propelled the Wilmington University men's basketball team to a 79-70 victory over USciences last Tuesday night, exacting an earlier season loss to the Devils. Drew Johnson caught fire from deep, hitting 4-of-4 in the first half before finishign 6-of-7 from deep in the game. He led the team with 22 points while adding six rebounds and two assists. Taj Almon collected his second straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 6-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the foul line. Tyaire Ponzo-Meek added 18 points while Omari Dill-Pettiford chipped in with 15 points as well. The Wildcats raised their record to 13-6 overall and 8-2 in the CACC.
