Randy Rickards Named CACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the first time this season, the Wilmington University men's basketball team has earned a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, as junior Randy Rickards was named a Co-Defensive Player of the Week in aiding the Wildcats to a 2-0 week.

Randy Rickards (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) was second on the team in scoring 15.5 points and 3.5 assists per game, but led the team in grabbing 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks per game as the team stretch its winning streak to three games with wins over Holy Family and Caldwell.

On the road at Holy Family, Rickards scored 15 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Eight of his nine rebounds came on the defensive side of the ball while he also denied four shots and came away with one steal. He then came back and scored 16 points to go with five rebounds (three defensive) to go with a pair of blocks and a steal against Caldwell on Saturday at home.

For the season, Rickards leads the lead with 13.7 points per game and 8.1 rebounds a contest. He is tied for fourth in the CACC in blocking 1.2 shots per game on the year, denying 26 on the season. He is also fifth in the CACC in grabbing 8.1 rebounds a contest.

Rickards was named CACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week with Jefferson's Bismark Nsiah who averaged 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game or the Rams.

Danny Walsh was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll in leading the Wildcats offensively in the 2-0 week. He scored 19.0 points per game last week, scoring 24 at Holy Family and 14 more against Caldwell, all while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and hitting on 4-of-6 from three-point range.

The women's Sabreen Muslim was named to the Weekly Honor Roll as well, scoring 14.0 points per game and grabbing 8.5 rebounds last week. She scored 12 points with six rebounds at Holy Family while securing a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Caldwell.
