Men’s Lacrosse Selected Third in 2021 CACC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Written by CACC Associate Commissioner Doug DeBiase

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Chestnut Hill College was picked first in the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara on Tuesday. The Griffins earned 40 points in the voting, including four of seven first-place votes. The voting for the poll was conducted by the league's seven head coaches in the sport.

Chestnut Hill, which has reached each of the first two CACC Championship Finals in league history (2018 & 2019), return several letterwinners from two years ago, as the Griffins also are receiving votes in the USILA National Poll. CHC was off to a strong start in the 2020 campaign before it was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Georgian Court University, which has claimed the first two CACC championship crowns, finished second in the voting with 39 points and three first-place nods. The Lions are also earning honorable-mention votes in the latest USILA poll. Wilmington University rounded out the top three with 31 points.

The Wildcats were devastated to see the 2020 campaign cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as they started their third season of existence a perfect 5-0. Wilmington's 2021 campaign begins on Sunday, March 21 at the WU Athletics Complex against Lake Erie.

The 2021 CACC Men's Lacrosse season gets underway this weekend with several teams in action versus non-conference foes. The league schedule gets going on Saturday, April 10. The regular season will be a buildup to the CACC Men's Lacrosse Championship, which will be held the week of May 2-8, at the sites of the highest seeds. More information on the post-season tournament will be announced at a later date.
