Men’s Lacrosse Aims to Continue Strong Program Start with 11 Games Scheduled in 2021

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's lacrosse team looks to extend its winning streak into the 2021 season, as it has announced 11 games, five at the WU Athletics Complex, starting March 21, as the 2021 schedule has been announced.

The Wildcats may have been the most disappointed team to see the 2020 season get cut short, as they started the campaign 5-0 in just their third season of existence. But they will look to continue that run into 2021, first when they host Lake Erie on March 21 at the WU Athletics Complex.

The team will play its first five opponents against nonconference teams, setting up for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference stretch of schedule containing six games.

The Wildcats will play two exhibitions in the early going against NJCCA opponents, Harford CC at home and CCBC Essex under the lights, not counting towards their overall record.

They will also take to the road to play ECC counterparts Mercy and St. Thomas Aquinas before settling in on the CACC schedule.

The CACC portion of the slate starts with a home game against Post on April 10. They will also host Dominican and Caldwell throughout the season, and take on Chestnut Hill, Felician, and Georgian Court on the road.

Things will look different in 2021, as CACC policy states no fans, parents, students, or spectators of any kind are allowed at any contest in 2021. The Wilmington University athletics department has a plan in place to live stream and live stat every home contest to ensure spectators can follow online, weather and rescheduling permitting.

The CACC Tournament will not be hosted at a single location as in previous years, but with the higher seed hosting each of the CACC Tournament Semifinals and CACC Tournament Championship. The semifinals are slated for Thursday, May 6, and a champion will be crowned on Saturday, May 8. The Wildcats have made the semifinals in each of their first two seasons.
