NEWARK, Del. - - The 2021 preseason will feature a multitude of new faces for the Wilmington University men's soccer team, as head coach Nick Papanicolas welcomes 22 new student-athletes as a part of his 2021 recruiting class.

Please welcome the 2021 WilmU Men's Soccer signings (in alphabetical order):

Abeil Belay:

Lautaro Berisso:

  • Hometown: Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • High School: Colegio Club Estudiantes de La Plata
  • Previous: Camden County College
  • Year: Junior

  • Other: Helped lead Camden CC to the 2021 NJCAA D3 National Championship game as well as the 2018 NJCAA D3 National Semifinal round. Scored 12 goals in 2021 and 11 more in 2018

Deshawn Bernard:

  • Other: Was named to the 2019 Jamaican All-High School Team. Helped lead the Jamaican All-High School Team to the 2019 CASA/Lauderhill Youth Soccer Classics Tournament. Helped lead his club team to the U15, U17, and U20 championships.

Tyler Guadagno:

  • Other: Four-year varsity letterwinner at Triton Regional. Helped lead his team to three straight Divisional Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Was named a team captain, and All-Area in 2020, helping the team go a perfect 13-0. Helped lead the team to regional and sectional championships n 2019. Was named First Team All-Conference and Third Team All-State in 2019. He also helped lead his club team to the NJYS State Championships in 2015 and 2018. Was a member of the ODP NJ State Team and the ODP East Inter-Regional Team as well.

Marcus Hedemann:

  • Other: Helped lead his club team to a second place finish in the 2020-21 season, The Division, the national league of Denmark. Helped lead his U-19 club team to a second place finish in the Tournament in Netherlands.

Mohamad Khan:

  • Other: Named a captain of the school team from 2018-20. In 2017, he was rewarded as the Best Midfielder, top goal scorer, and winner of the Aliasger Inter School Football. Earned the Sports Proficiency for Exemplary Performance in Football for the years 2016, 2018-20. Elected as the School Sports Vice Captain in 2018-19. Scouted by the All-India Football Federation to join India's U-17 Boys Camp in preparation of the AFC U-19 Championship in 2023. Selected for exclusive training sessions with Wes Brown of Manchester United.

Yohan Kim:

  • Other: Helped lead Herkimer CC to the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championship game, falling to #1 Richland, 2-1. Won the Region 3 Championship in both 2019 and 2020-21. Team reached the 2020-21 NJCAA Division III National Semifinal round. Named the 2020-21 Region 3 Championship Final MVP after scoring a goal and assisting on another.

Adrian Lekaj:

  • Previous: University of North Carolina-Greensboro & Post University
  • Year: Sophomore
  • Position: Center Midfield
  • Club Team: Greensboro International FC
  • Other: Was named an All-New England and All-State player as a junior and senior in high school. Earned All-SWC honors in his final three years of high school. Helped lead his South Kent School prep team to the 2016 Prep School National Championship. Also helped lead his club team to the 2014 National Premier League Championship.

Iwan McNab:

  • Other: Second Team All-GPAC as a sophomore at Briar Cliff. Recorded one International Cap for Welsh Colleges. He is a two-time Welsh Schools Cup and a two-time Welsh Colleges Cup Winner. Also a member of the team that was a British Cup Finalist.

Gabriel Marin Moreno:

  • Other: Club team Aravaca C.F. is a member of the First Division U18 (Division de Honor) in Spain.

Cody Niggebrugge:

  • Other: Helped lead his high school team to its first ever DIAA State Championship as a senior, going 15-0, defeating Salesianum in the final. Also helped lead his club team DEFC to a third-place finish in Nationals in 2019 in Colorado, winning regionals in Chicago, and the JEFF Cup.

Colby Niggebrugge:

Dimitris Passalis:

  • Other: Helped lead his team to the Pan-Hellenic Lyceum championship in 2018. Earned a cap for the first league Xanthi F.C. U17 team. Helped lead the north junior varsity U17 team to a first place finish. Three year member of the third league team Edessaikos F.C.

Jonathan Rotondi:

  • Other: Helped lead his Woodbridge Soccer Club team to an OPDL League Championship. Was named the MVP and led the league in assists. Helped the team qualify for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) State Tournament. Was a member of Team Ontario Provincial Project.

Varmah Siryon:

Clifton Suban:

  • Other: Helped lead his team to the DaCosta Cup Semifinals in 2018. His defensive unit recorded 11 shutouts in 17 games. He also scored three goals and added six assists.

Carson Talboys:

  • Year: Senior
  • Position: Center Back
  • Club Team: Carolina Rapids
  • Other: Was named a team captain of the 2020-21 Catawba team where he played every minute in the year at center back. in his career at Catawba, he played in 50 games, making 41 starts. Was named the "Impact Player" on ESPN3 against nationally ranked Wingate. Played for the Carolina Rapids USSDA instead of high school soccer as a sophomore and junior. Helped lead his high school team to the regional final at States during freshman year.

Richard Thompson:

  • Other: Helped lead his team to the Manning Cup Championship in 2019-20. Was named to the All-Schools U19 Team for 2018-19 and 2019-20. Named Manning Cup Best XI and led his team in assists in 2019-20.

Tajhay Williams:

  • Position: Midfield
  • Club Team: York United
  • Other: Helped lead Clarendon College to the Docasta Cup and the Olivier Shield during his senior year. He was selected to the All-Schools Team and helped lead the combined team to the CASA Youth Tournament Championship in Florida. Scored four goals and had three assists in 2019 and had one goal and seven assists in nine games in 2017.

Shoki Yoshida:

  • Other: He helped lead his team to the Regional League and was named to the National Championship best 16 for all of Japan. Was the Regional League top scorer and was a Regional selection.
