Carson Talboys Named CACC Defensive Player of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Carson Talboys keeps the title at Wilmington University for another week, being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.

Carson Talboys (Huntersville, N.C.) helped the men's soccer team to a 1-0-1 week, tying West Chester while bouncing back and defeating Southern New Hampshire, 2-1, on the road on Saturday.

Talboys scored the game-tying goal in the 63rd minute, getting on the end of a corner from Richard Thompson. He headed in the goal to tie it 1-1 before Shawn Genus netted the game-winner in the 70th minute. It was his first goal as a Wildcat after playing four-years at Catawba.

It is the second week in a row the Wildcats earned the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, as Richard Thompson earned the award last week.

Shawn Genus was named to the Men's Soccer Honor Roll after scoring a goal and adding an assist in the team's 1-0-1 week.

Volleyball's Heather Pedrick was named to the CACC Women's Volleyball Honor Roll as well, helping her team to a 2-1 weekend at the Wildcat Regional Invitational. She averaged 3.73 kills, 4.18 assists, and 3.36 digs per set in the three matches, collecting a triple-double in each match.

The 13th ranked men's soccer team welcomes Southern Connecticut State and Gannon to the WU Athletics Complex this week.
