Malthe Hannesbo and Vaughn Lackman Named CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Another successful week for the Wilmington Athletics Department produced two more Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week on Tuesday, in addition to nine student-athletes earning spots on their respective Weekly Honor Rolls.

Men's soccer's Malthe Hannesbo was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week while men's cross country's Vaughn Lackman was named the CACC Rookie of the Week.

It is the second time that Hannesbo has been named on the weekly report, having done so on September 19 as the Rookie of the Week. This week, he scored the lone goal of a 1-0 victory over West Chester while anchoring the back line in the shutout. He scored off a corner kick in the 66th minute. The defense only allowed one shot on goal in the 1-0 victory. The Wildcats also tied Felician, 2-2, on Saturday to go 1-0-1 on the week.

It is the third time that Vaughn Lackman (Eagleville, Pa.) has been named the CACC Rookie of the Week, while also being the CACC Runner of the Week one of those times as well. He helped lead the Wildcats to a second-place finish at the UD Invite on Saturday, finishing only behind the Delaware Track Club. He was the third Wildcat to finish the 8K course, crossing the line in 28:36.93 to finish sixth overall.

Nine other Wildcats earned spots on the Weekly Honor Roll this week as well. Marcus Hedemann scored a goal and added an assist in two games for Men's Soccer while Mio Nakajima (six saves, one shutout), Samantha Emmi (one game-winning goal), and Emilie Larsen (three goals in two games) earned spots for Women's Soccer.

Kacey Affrunti hit .543 with 27 kills and only two errors to go along with 16 blocks in two matches for Volleyball while Carmelle Vial and Valentina Ivankovic led the Women's Tennis team to a 3-0 week to clinch the CACC Regular Season Championship to earn spots on their respective Honor Rolls.

Trent Taylor led the Men's Cross Country Team with a second place finish (first NCAA competitor) at the UD Invite while Yailynn Ramirez paced the Women's Cross Country team to a 16th place finish in the 6K event to earn Honor Roll mentions as well.
