Softball to Host Seven Dates; Set to Play 36-game 2021 Schedule

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University softball team happens to still be the defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Champions, despite not playing a CACC opponent since May, 2019. The Wildcats are hoping things will be different in 2021, as they are set to play a 36-game schedule.

Full of mostly CACC contests, the 2021 schedule will feature seven home doubleheaders at Asbury Field, with the Wildcats preparing to play a full 26-game CACC slate. They will also play four opponents outside the CACC and have a nonconference doubleheader against Caldwell scheduled as well.

The 2021 season begins with a home date against Nyack, with the first pitch of the 2021 season scheduled for March 20 at 12:00 p.m. They will also play home games against Caldwell, Chestnut Hill, Dominican, Jefferson, Georgian Court, and Goldey-Beacom.

Nonconference contests will feature roads games at Mercy, West Chester, Kutztown, Molloy, and the nonconference doubleheader at Caldwell.

Things will look different in 2021, as CACC policy states no fans, parents, students, or spectators of any kind are allowed at any contest in 2021. The Wilmington University athletics department has a plan in place to live stream and live stat every home contest to ensure spectators can follow online, weather and rescheduling permitting.

The CACC Tournament will also look different this year, as it will be a single elimination style, with the higher seed hosting each single contest. The CACC Tournament is scheduled for the week of May 3-9.
