Press Release Written by Mitchell Coll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The Wilmington University Track & Field team saw one recent honoree to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Major Awards. Tiffany Banning earned the CACC Track Rookie of the Week honors as announced by the conference's office this week.

The Wildcats competed at the 2023 Bill Butler Invitational at West Chester University last weekend. The women finished in 13th place out of 19 teams, with 22 points. Freshman Tiffany Banning has been a catalyst for the Wildcats all season and deserves the nod for CACC Track Rookie of the Week.

Banning has been paving the way for distance runners this season. This past weekend at the Bill Butler Invitational, Tiffany Banning and Yailynn Ramirez became the first Wildcat in program history to clock a sub-5 minute 1,500-meter race. Banning placed eighth overall in the event, with a record-setting time of 4:58.93, and now has the fifth-best time in the CACC, as the CACC Championships are close.

The Wildcats will be in Baltimore, Maryland, this weekend as they will partake in the John Hopkins Invite on Saturday, April 22.
