Wilmington Mourns the Loss of Former Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete Lindsay Bradford

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University athletics department and women's basketball team is mourning the loss of former standout student-athlete Lindsay Bradford who passed away on July 23. She was 28 years old.

Bradford (Gwynn Oak, Md./Randallstown) graduated from Wilmington University in May 2016 with a BS in Video & Motion Graphics with a concentration in Digital Film Making. She played two seasons for the women's basketball team in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years.

In her two years at Wilmington, Bradford was a dominate force on defense, setting the single season program record with 59 blocks in the 2015-16 season. In just two seasons as a Wildcat, Bradford ranks third all-time with 77 career blocked shots. She had a career best six blocked shots in a game on two occasions, first against Nyack on January 25, 2015, and matched her mark at Chestnut Hill on February 9, 2016. That ranks third all-time for a single game in program history.

For her career, she averaged 6.5 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and 2.0 blocks per game.

Bradford came to Wilmington after an outstanding two-year career at CCBC Essex where she led all of NJCAA Division II in blocking 6.0 shots per game in 2012-13. She was named All-NJCAA Division II Region XX Honorable Mention and All-Maryland JUCO Conference Second Team. She was the 2011-12 CCBC Dundalk Female Student-Athlete of the Year and was inducted into the CCBC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.

Wilmington University Athletics would like to offer its most heartfelt sympathies to Bradford's family and friends.
