Wilmington Bowling Team Excels Academically During 2019-20 Season

WHITEWATER, Wisc. - - For the fourth year in a row, the Wilmington University bowling team was awarded the National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award, ranking 19th in the country with a 3.554 team grade point average for the 2019-20 academic year.

In addition to the team being one of 57 bowling programs on the list, the Wildcats placed four individuals on the NTCA All-Academic squad, finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.

The team was led by junior Malia Stout, who earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for the third year in a row. Senior Bailey Peters, who is graduating after three years, earns a spot on the All-Academic Team for the second year in a row as well. Joining the upperclassman on the list of 380 honorees nationwide are freshmen standouts KC Miller and CC Riojas.

In order to be eligible to be named NTCA All-Academic, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic school year. This year, there are 380 honorees representing 69 NCAA bowling programs.

As a team, East Coast Conference counterpart Adelphi University led the nation with a 3.82 team GPA. Delaware State was second with a 3.77 while Tulane rounds out the top three with a 3.766 team grade point average.

To earn the award, a program must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or high for the academic school year. For the 2019-20 academic school year, 57 bowling programs achieved that mark.
