Women’s Lacrosse Gets Back to Action with 11 Contests in 2021

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Semifinals in 2019, and head coach Kevin Day looks to continue the upwards trend in 2021 with 11 games, five of which are at home.

The Wildcats got off to a slow start, but played two nationally ranked opponents all in part of a hard nonconference schedule to begin the year. With the bulk of the 2020 schedule against CACC opponents, the Wildcats look to regain its form and take the next step in postseason play.

A pair of nonconference games kick off the 2021 season, with visits to Frostburg State and Delaware State in March. The season begins on the road at Frostburg on March 20.

The first home game of the 2021 season will be against three-time defending CACC Champion Georgian Court on Wednesday, March 31. The Wildcats will also host Chestnut Hill, Nyack, Holy Family and Felician throughout the season while taking to the road to play Jefferson, Post, Dominican, and Caldwell.

Things will look different in 2021, as CACC policy states no fans, parents, students, or spectators of any kind are allowed at any contest in 2021. The Wilmington University athletics department has a plan in place to live stream and live stat every home contest to ensure spectators can follow online, weather and rescheduling permitting.

The CACC Tournament begins on Tuesday, May 4, but that will also look different this year, as each round will be hosted by the higher seed. The top six teams will advance to the CACC Tournament, with the higher seed hosting each contest. A Champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 9.
