Four Wildcats Named CACC Players of the Week Teams Go 7-1 Last Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Following a solid week of competition on the field and turf, four Wilmington University student-athletes were named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

The women's lacrosse team went 2-0 and were led by the CACC Player of the Week Taylor Lambeth and the CACC Rookie of the Week Campbell Heller. The baseball team started CACC play 4-1 and were led by the CACC Player of the Week John Mead. The men's lacrosse team held Caldwell to six goals, anchored by the CACC Defensive Player of the Week Nick Bruhn.

Taylor Lambeth (Townsend, Del./Appoquinimink) paced the Wildcats with 24 points in a 2-0 week, defeating Chestnut Hill and Post. She set a single game program record with 11 assists at Chestnut Hill, scoring three goals as well for a single game program record 14 points. She came back and dished out 8 assists against Post, scoring two goals for 10 points on Saturday. Lambeth leads the CACC with 37 assists and 57 points.

Campbell Heller (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) led the Wildcats in scoring 13 goals in two games last week. She was also second on the team with nine draws and three caused turnovers against the Griffins and Eagles. She scored eight goals and had an assist at Chestnut Hill, adding five draws in the win. She then scored five goals and added four draws and two caused turnovers against Post. Heller leads the CACC with 44 goals on the year, and is second to teammate Taylor Lambeth with 52 points. It is her third CACC Rookie of the Week award this season.

John Mead (Washington Township, N.J./Bergen Catholic) led the Wildcats to a 4-1 week by hitting .563 and slugging 1.438 with a .650 on-base percentage. He batted 9-for-16 with four homers, two doubles, 13 RBI and nine runs scored. He had multiple hits in four of the five games as the Wildcats went 2-1 against Jefferson and swept Caldwell in a doubleheader. Mead batted 3-for-5 with a double and a homer in each game of a doubleheader against Caldwell. He knocked in eight runners in the sweep. Batted 4-for-7 at Jefferson, including 2-for-3 with a homer and a two-run double in the seventh to break a 6-6 tie in game two, collecting four RBI in the game. Mead currently leads the CACC with a .468 batting average.

Nick Bruhn (Burke, Va./Lake Broaddock) helped anchor a defense that only allowed six goals in the team's CACC opener against Caldwell. He scooped up a team high six ground balls and led the team with two caused turnovers as well. Bruhn has helped the Wildcats to a CACC second best 10.14 GAA, allowing a CACC low 71 goals this season.

Men's lacrosse's Jake Copio was named the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring six goals at Caldwell. Softball's Haley Downin was also named to the Weekly Honor Roll after going 5-for-7 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored in a doubleheader sweep at Chestnut Hill.
