LYNDHURST, N.J. - - A contest that didn't produce much action for either team in the offensive third, it was the Wilmington University women's soccer team that capitalized on an opportunity to defeat Felician, 1-0, on Saturday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.

The Wildcats (7-5, 6-2 CACC) moved into second place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with the win despite being out shot, 5-2, by the Golden Falcons (3-7-1, 1-5-1 CACC). But the Wildcats scored on one of their two shots in the first half while keeping Felician off the board in the second half.

Ashley Cafarella had a chance to put the Wildcats on the board in the 27th minute, but her header hit the crossbar and stayed out of the net. But the Wildcats would capitalize on another header, this time coming from Loran Wyrough on the end of a Rebecca Dolhansky cross.

Wyrough's seventh goal of the season came in the 32nd minute, getting on the end of a cross that went off the Golden Falcon keeper's fingers in the box.

Felician's best chance came early in the second half as one of their headers went off the cross bar in the 52nd minute. The Golden Falcons out shot the Wildcats, 5-0, in the second half, but Kierstyn Williams came up with save in the 73rd minute, 80th minute, and 86th minute to preserve the shutout.

The Wildcats have a week off before returning to action at the WU Athletics Complex next Saturday. The team will take on Concordia on the 15th with a 12:00 p.m. opening whistle.
