Samantha Emmi Named First Team All-CACC for Women’s Soccer

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the second year in a row, Wilmington University women's soccer centerback Samantha Emmi has been named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference First Team, in a vote of the league's 13 head coaches.

Samantha Emmi (Logan Township, N.J.) was the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-CACC selection, adding to her outstanding career as a Wildcat with another First Team All-CACC selection in 2022.

The junior started all 18 games for the Wildcats at the center back position and finished as the team's second leading goal scorer. She finished with six goals for 12 points, being the target player on attacking free kicks and corners and also being the taker in close range chances, blasting balls into the back of the net.

She scored both goals in a 2-2 tie at Chestnut Hill, giving the Wildcats the 1-0 lead in the seventh minute and the 2-1 lead in the 24th minute. She also scored goals against Caldwell, Dominican, Bridgeport, and the game-winning goal in a 3-1 win against Felician.

Samantha Emmi's 16 career goals rank her sixth all-time while her 35 points put her just outside the Top-10 in program history in just three seasons.

CACC point leader Alyssa Ruggeri (Goldey-Beacom) was voted as the CACC Player of the Year, scoring 12 goals and adding a league leading 13 assists for 37 points. Jefferson's Nikki Dedes was named the CACC Rookie of the Year, Bridgeport's Angelina LoFranco was voted as the CACC Defensive Player of the Year, and Holy Family's Brianna Pudlo was named the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year.

Bridgeport's head coach Tania Armellino was voted as the CACC Coach of the Year by the conference's sports information directors and Alliance rounded out the major award winners by being voted with the 2022 Team Sportsmanship Award.
