Women’s Tennis Remains at No. 1 in latest NCAA East Region Rankings

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team remains at No. 1 in this week's NCAA East Regional Rankings.

The Wildcats won their lone game of the week, defeating West Chester, 7-0, on Thursday. They are now 16-2 overall with a 14-1 in-region record.

Wilmington (CACC), Franklin Pierce (NE10), and District of Columbia (ECC) all earned automatic qualifications into the Regionals later this spring by winning their conference tournaments. There are three at-large bids into Regionals.

The East Regional Tournament will feature six teams split at two sites. The top two seeds earn a bye while No. 3 plays No. 6 and No. 4 plays No. 5 in the first round. The Winners move on to play the top two seeds the following day. The winners from each site advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship to be a part of the 16-team field.

The Wildcats' regular season comes to a close on Saturday as they host Queens (N.Y.) on Saturday. The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
