Women’s Tennis Adds Joe Hodge as Assistant Coach

NEWARK, Del. - - Troy Donato and the Wilmington University women's tennis program has announced that Joe Hodge has joined the Wildcats as an assistant coach.

Hodge joins Troy Donato's staff with local Delaware experience, being a tennis professional at Greenville Country Club and the boy's head tennis coach at Wilmington Friends. In his first season at the helm of Wilmington Friends, he brought the team to finish fifth in the State of Delaware, recording the school's best record in the past 12 years. While at Greenville Country Club, he coaches both juniors and adults, teaches lessons, runs groups and clinics, and coaches the women's cup teams.

Hodge is also a tennis coach and music teacher at Tennis Rocks, an after-school and summer grassroots tennis program that helps bring music and tennis to inner city kids in Wilmington. Staying with music, he is also the Music Director of the Wilmington Orchestra at the Music School of Delaware, earning his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conduction from Michigan State University in 2022. 

He graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Music in 2009 and earned his Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Hartford in 2012. 

Joe Hodge has begun his USPTA Certification process.
