WILMINGTON, Del. - - In a matchup of teams that advanced to the NCAA DII National Championships last season, the Indiana (Pa.) team gave the Wilmington University women's tennis team its first loss of the year, 4-3, on Saturday at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

The Crimson Hawk won one of the Atlantic Regionals to advance to the NCAA National Championships while the Wildcats won one of the East Regionals a year ago. The Wildcats are now 16-1 overall after their first loss of the year.

IUP (5-8) took the doubles point from the Wildcats, just the fourth time the Wildcats lost the doubles point all season. Jess Purdy and Neus Ramos Moreno won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, though.

The Crimson Hawks went ahead 3-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 singles, and then clinched the match with a win at No. 5 singles. But the Wildcats proved their mettle in the match, as they won the final three singles events to make it a 4-3 contest.

Neus Ramos Moreno fought back after dropping the first set to win, 2-6, 6-2, and 7-6 (7-0). Maelle Fontanges captured a singles win at No. 4, 6-4 and 6-1, and then Alva Norberg closed out the match with a 7-5 and 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.

The Wildcats' tough spring schedule continues with their next match, as they welcome the District of Columbia to the Delcastle Tennis Center on Wednesday. UDC was another Regional Tournament participant a season ago. The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
