Wilmington Golf Posts 305 to Sit in Third after One Round at Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite

In a battle with teams from both the East and the Atlantic Regions, the Wilmington University golf team sits in a tie for third place at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invite hosted by West Chester at the Penn Oaks Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats shot a 305 in the opening round, four shots off the leaders from Millersville. Host West Chester is second with a 302 while the Wildcats are tied with Indiana (Pa.) with their 305.

Freshman Joey Russo led the Wildcats with a 73, sitting in a tie for third individually. Junior Andreas Lunding shot a 75 in the first round, good enough for a tie for 10th overall.

Junior Jordan Lamb posted the third best score of the round for the Wildcats, shooting a 78 to sit in a tie for 19th overall. Senior Alexander Lautenschlaeger rounded out the Wildcats 305 with a 79, sitting in a tie for 28th overall after the first round.

Sophomore Sam Clark closed out the day for the Wildcats with an 81, now in a tie for 37th overall after the first day.

Russo trails the leader by four strokes heading into Monday's round as Indiana (Pa.)'s Kenneth Sames posted a 69, the lone sub-par score of the round. Millersville's Conor Gilbert is second after shooting a 72 in the first round.

The Wildcats look to make up the four-stroke difference on Monday, starting with a 9 a.m. shotgun tee-off to conclude the tournament at Penn Oaks.
