NEWARK, Del. - - Scoring two goals for the second game in a row, Troy Paul paced the Wilmington University men's soccer team to a 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Chestnut Hill on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Troy Paul (York, S.C.) has now scored six goals in the last four games, scoring all four goals for the Wildcats (6-4-3, 4-2-1 CACC) in the past two games. The win was the eighth straight shutout against the Griffins, not losing or allowing a goal since the 2015 CACC Tournament Semifinal.

Both of Paul's goals came in an 11-minute span but spread across the halftime break. His first goal of the game came with 7:30 left in the first half. He nearly scored off a header, but got his revenge on the ensuing goal-kick. Max Norden won the second ball off the long restart and quickly played Leandro Louro da Silva. Louro da Silver played a ball over the top to a charging Paul at the top of the box and he was able to flick it past the hard charging keeper to himself and tap it in for the 1-0 lead.

Troy Paul came off the bench early in the second half and made an immediate impact. Max Norden played Caesar Knapp down the left side and despite his initial collection was stopped, Knapp stayed with it and ended up with the ball. He played a low cross to the near post, finding Paul all alone in front. He one-timed the pass up and under the crossbar from the six-yard line, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead in the 49th minute.

Chestnut Hill went down a man in the 62nd minute, but the Wildcats couldn't find the back of the net again in the game, despite solid chances from Diego Ramirez in the 67th minute, and back-to-back chances by Troy Paul and Leandro Louro da Silva that were both saved in the 87th minute.

The Wildcats outshot the Griffins, 19-9, including 8-2 in the first half. Charlie Phillips made 3 stops in 80 minutes before an injury forced him to the bench. Bas Markus made one stop in the final 10 minutes to preserve the second shutout of the season for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats have a short turnaround for their next CACC contest, as they head to Caldwell on Friday. The opening whistle is slated for 3:00 p.m.
