NEWARK, Del. - - Partnering with legendary lacrosse icon Tom Marechek and his All Pro Lacrosse Camps, the Wilmington University men's lacrosse program is conducting its first Wilmington Wildcat Lacrosse Camp at the WU Athletics Complex from July 16-19.
The four-day camp is open for boys aged 10 to 16, up to and including rising high school sophomores. The day camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday at the WU Athletics Complex located at:
1365 Pulaski Highway
Newark, DE 19702
Cost of the camp is $250.00 per camper.
Registration and payment for the Wilmington Wildcat Lacrosse Camp is done completely online at http://athletics.wilmu.edu/camps/camps-list.
The camp is hosted by second year Wilmington head coach Christian Zwickert, as he holds over 14 years of NCAA coaching experience as well as National Team head coaching experience with Germany and Poland. His staff of Ronnie Sanna, Scott Plasse, Cory Malampe, Jeremy Forester, and Adam Starrett will also be on hand to teach the game of lacrosse.
Marechek brings over 30 years of lacrosse experience to the WU Athletics Complex, being a two-time NCAA National Champion and four-time NCAA All-American at Syracuse University (1989-92). He appeared in four World Lacrosse Championship for Team Canada (1990, 1994, 1998, and 2006), an All-Pro champion for the Philadelphia Wings indoor lacrosse team and Baltimore Bayhawks outdoor lacrosse franchise.
The camp will cover everything from individual techniques to situational and team tactics. Strategies and theories are demonstrated in both one-on-one play as well as half and full field game play. Players are grouped by age and ability to foster each player's development.
Each camper is required to bring all lacrosse equipment needed to play the game, including cleats for the WU Athletics Complex's turf field. Each camper will receive a new Under Armour Lax Head, an Under Armour Reversible Jersey, chances at daily Under Armour giveaways, and elite instructional camp experience from a great team of coaches.
