PLAYOFF PREVIEW: No. 5 Wilmington Heads to No. 4 Philadelphia to Begin CACC Tournament

NEWARK, Del. - - The fifth seeded Wilmington University women's soccer team heads to fourth seeded Philadelphia University in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Monday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Ravenhill Field.

The Wildcats earned the No. 5 seed with an 8-4 conference record, picking up 24 points. The Rams went 8-3-1 in the CACC for 25 points to jump into the No. 4 seed. The teams met on October 18 at Philadelphia, with the Rams winning, 1-0, on a goal in the 52nd minute.

Scouting the No. 5 Wilmington University Wildcats:

The Wildcats got knocked down to the number five seed after losing their regular season finale, 2-1, at Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats went 6-3 in the month of October.

The Wildcats have two of the top five goal scorers in the CACC in Loran Wyrough and Teigha Ward. Each finished with nine goals on the year, and have each scored as many as four goals in a single contest this season. They are both tied for third in the CACC in goals.

Rebecca Dolhansky is tied atop the league with 10 assists on the season while Ward is fifth with six helpers. Ward's nine goals and six assists give her 24 points on the year, second most in the CACC. Six of Ward's goals have come in the past five games.

In goal, Kierstyn Williams has started all 16 of the 17 games for the Wildcats. She ranks sixth in the CACC with 22 goals against while carrying a league's sixth best 1.48 goals against average.

Scouting the No. 4 Philadelphia University Rams:

The Rams had a four-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss at Mercy in their regular season finale on Thursday. The Rams came on strong down the stretch to earn a CACC First Round home game after starting the season 1-2-1 in league play. They also went 6-3 in the month of October, 6-1 in CACC play during that span.

Philadelphia's netminder Deanna Messner leads the CACC in goals against (11), goals-against average (0.71), and save percentage (.843) for the season. Eight of the goalkeeper's nine wins have come via the shutout. The Rams have only allowed 16 goals all season with only three of them coming in the month of October.

The Rams' Dena Noiseux and Megan Sullivan lead the team with 10 points each, each scoring five goals on the year. Brooke Haden leads the team with four assists. Taylor Mysza is third on the team with three goals and three assists for nine points.
