2023-24 Wildcats of the Week

Entering its ninth year, the Wildcat of the Week award focuses on individual performances on the field/court/course over the past seven days. Every Monday, two student-athletes (one male and one female) will be selected and featured on the home page as this week's Wildcat of the Week.

Monday, March 25, 2024:
Male – Kory Pritchard – Jr. – Baseball:
The junior outfielder batted 5-for-11 last week with two RBI and two runs scored, totaling a .455 batting average in almost four games. In a game against West Chester that is not complete yet, Pritchard went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, hitting an RBI single in the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-3. Against nationally ranked No. 2 Millersville, Pritchard went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and then played game one against Felician, batting 1-for-3 over the weekend. Pritchard is second on the team with a .367 batting average this year, hitting two doubles with three RBI and six runs scored.

Female – Lexi Moore – Sr. – Softball:
The senior infielder started all eight games for the Wildcats, helping the team to a perfect 8-0 record. Moore batted 16-for-28 with two doubles for a .571 batting average. She also scored a team high 15 runs, using her speed to get around the bases, going 9-for-9 on stolen base attempts. She collected at least one hit in each game, starting the week by going 4-for-7 with six runs scored in a sweep at St. Thomas Aquinas. She batted 3-for-8 with four more runs scored, using three stolen bases, in a sweep of Chestnut Hill. She came home and batted 4-for-6 with a double and three runs scored against Felician and then finished the week by going 5-for-7, including a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI in game two, against Adelphi.

Male – Brandon Grygo – Fr. – Baseball:
In five games last week, the freshman batted 8-for-19 with three doubles, a homer, and team-leading seven RBI. Brandon batted 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI to start the week against Shippensburg and then went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs scored against American International. He went 1-for-4 against Indiana (Pa.), but then batted 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored against the Hawks on Saturday. He is hitting .282 on the year with three doubles, a homer, and seven RBI.

Female – Alea Javorowsky – So. – Women's Lacrosse:
The sophomore attack led the Wildcats to a 2-1 week with a team-high 17 points, scoring four goals while dishing out 13 assists. The week started with two assists in an 11-10 overtime loss at Frostburg State, but then picked up with two goals and five assists in a home win over D'Youville. She ended the week with two goals and six assists for eight points to lead the Wildcats to a CACC opening win over Post on Saturday. She currently leads the CACC with 34 assists on the season.

Male – Taalib Holloman – Sr. – Men's Basketball:
Taalib Holloman (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Wildcats in scoring last week, averaging 20.5 points per game in two games. He hit the 20-point plateau in each game, all while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor for the week. He scored 20 points while going 7-of-10 from the foul line at Shippensburg, adding five rebounds and a steal in the overtime loss. He then came back and scored 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting against West Chester, adding three steals, an assist, and a game-ending rebound in the win.

Female – Elly Collins – Sr. – Volleyball:
Elly Collins capped her Wilmington career with a CACC All-Tournament Team selection, helping the Wildcats to the CACC Tournament Semifinals for the second time in her career. She is the two-time defending CACC Defensive Player of the Year and will leave the program as the all-time leader in digs, amassing 2,344 for her career. In the two CACC Tournament games last week, she had 13 digs in a First Round win at Felician and then collected 29 more in four sets against Jefferson. She averaged a CACC leading 5.50 digs per set this year, the second best mark for a single season in program history.

Male – Dan Wyshinski – Jr. – Cross Country:
Dan Wyshinski (Pennsville, N.J.) again led his team on the course this past week, running against multiple teams that are regionally ranked by the USTFCCCA. The Wildcats competed at the Kutztown DII/DIII Challenge, with Wyshinski finishing 12th overall with an 8K time of 27:03.9. He was the top performer from the CACC and just the fifth finisher from a team other than the No. 2 ranked team in the Atlantic, Shippensburg.

Female – Manuela Restrepo – R.So. – Women's Soccer:
After missing the majority of the season last year to injury, Manuela Restrepo has come out strong to start this year, scoring five goals in four games so far. Three of her goals came on Saturday at Post with her first hat trick. She scored on a PK in the 10th minute for the 1-0 lead and then another PK in the 69th minute for the 2-1 lead. She then scored her third goal moments later in the 73rd minute from atop the 18-yard box, which turned into the game-winning goal with the 3-1 lead. It was the first hat trick for the women's team since the CACC Tournament Semifinals in 2021 by Jimena Garcia Risoto.
