Wildcats Set New Scoring Mark in 27-2 CACC Victory over Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - - The Wilmington University men's lacrosse team set a new scoring record in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Holy Family, 27-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

The Wildcats (3-3, 2-0 CACC) scored 26 goals against Chowan to open the 2022 season, setting the mark with 27 goals against CACC foe Holy Family in the first ever meeting against Tigers.

The Wildcats started the game with nine goals in the first quarter with logan Stinson and Josh Weston scoring three each. Gunner Settar scooped up a ground ball and fed Weston for his first assist of the season. Jacob Herman assists on four of the final four goals of the first quarter, as the Wildcats led, 9-1, after the opening 15 minutes.

Stinson opened the scoring in the second quarter as well, with Carter Earl, Zac Wallen, Matt Kracyla, Gavin Paraschak, and Jon Gaglione getting in on the scoring action. Zac Wallen scored his first goal of the season after causing a turnover, scooping up a ground ball and heading towards goal. He went with a give-and-go with Stinson, making it 12-1 with 6:18 to play in the second quarter.

TJ Caton scored his second of the game to start the third quarter, as Lou Savino and Jimmy Cava got in the scoring column. Layton Avant assists on Jon Gaglione's second goal of the season while Alex Del Moral picked up his first collegiate point with an assist on Miles Crouse's goal at the end of the frame, giving the Wildcats a 24-2 lead.

Joshua Leavery scored his second goal of the season to start the fourth quarter, adding an assist to Dominick Scioli's first goal of the season to cap the scoring, 27-2.

Logan Stinson led the Wildcats with six goals and two assists while Miles Crouse finished with one goal and five assists. Jacob Herman dished out five assists while Josh Weston finished with four goals. Carter Earl scored two goals while adding two assists.

Quinn Tracy and Zac Wallen led the defense with three caused turnovers while Gunner Settar added five ground balls. Lou Savino went 8-for-10 in the face-off circle while Connor Widmer went 7-for-9 and Carnell Lofton Jr. went 9-for-13.

The Wildcats now prepare for Chestnut Hill for their next contest next week. They host Chestnut Hill on Wednesday in a lacrosse doubleheader, kicking off the festivities with a 12:00 p.m. opening face-off at the WU Athletics Complex.
