Wilmington’s Tash, Woodley, Berry, and Naiwo Named Men’s Soccer All-CACC

A day before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament, the Wilmington University men's soccer team placed four members on the All-CACC teams, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Defenders Adrian Tash and Joe Woodley were named First Team All-CACC while forward Samuel Naiwo and midfielder Lance Berry were named Second Team All-CACC, as voted on by the conference's head coaches.

Tash and Woodley helped lead a defense that only allowed 14 goals during CACC play (22 overall) which is a fourth least in the conference. Berry and Naiwo helped the Wildcat (11-7, 7-5 CACC) offense to the fourth most goals during conference play (27).

Tash (Mississauga, Ontario/Rick Hansen) has started in all 18 matches on the back line this season, routinely marking the opposition's best offensive threat. He has one goal and two assists on the season, getting his first career point at West Chester with an assist. The junior collected his first career goal against Bridgeport while also assisting on a goal against Nyack.

Woodley (Gloucestershire, England/Cirencester Academy) has also started in all 18 matches on the back line this season, playing both on the outside and as a center back. The junior has two assists this season, assisting on the lone goal against Chestnut Hill and adding an assist against Nyack.

Berry (Bear, Del./Caravel Academy) has started in all 17 games he's played, finishing third on the team with six goals and 13 points. He has taken three penalty kicks this season, converting all three. His penalty kick goal against Georgian Court proved to be the game-winner while he's also added goals against Shippensburg, Dowling, Holy Family, Concordia, and Post. His lone assist came at Goldey-Beacom.

Naiwo (London, England/Crown Woods) has come on strong down the stretch for the Wildcats, starting in 16 of the 18 games he's played this season. He now leads the team with seven goals, six assists, and 20 points. He scored his first goal as a Wildcat against Holy Family, adding an assist as well. He scored twice against Bloomfield and Nyack while adding two assists against Nyack for a season high six points.

Concordia's Ovan Oakley was named the CACC Player of the Year while Goldey-Beacom's Fernando Sanchez was named the CACC Rookie of the Year. For the first time this year, the CACC awarded a Defensive Player of the Year and Philadelphia's Angelo Dambalas took home the award.

Concordia's head coach Sean Kenny was named the CACC Coach of the Year after leading the Clippers to the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament. Nyack College earned the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.

The CACC Tournament Quarterfinal round begins on Tuesday and the sixth seeded Wildcats head to third seeded Concordia for a 2 p.m. game. The winners of the four quarterfinal matchups will meet at Post University for the CACC Semifinals and Championship later this week.
