NEWARK, Del. – As the 2019 spring softball campaign inches near, Wilmington University's softball head Coach Mike Shehorn announces a packed schedule starting in Clermont, Florida.  

The Wildcats look to get back to the CACC Championship this May, after coming up short last season in the second day of play at the CACC Tournament. The 2018 schedule consists of 10 home dates and 13 CACC matchups. Wilmington will face nine teams who participated in last year's Regional Tournaments throughout the season, including the reigning NCAA DII National Champion and Runner Ups.

The Wildcats start the season when they travel down to Clermont, Florida for a six-day tournament on March 3. The week and season starts off with a bang, playing the reigning National Champion Southern Indiana on Sunday in the season opener. The rest of the week includes games against Midwest Region top seeded Grand Valley State University, East Region fourth seeded Merrimack, East Region second seed and National Runner-Ups St. Anselm, and Central Region fourth seeded Minnesota State Mankato.

Following the trip down south, Wilmington will host four home doubleheaders right off the bat, starting with Shippensburg on March 13. They will open up CACC play on March 19, when Georgian Court comes to Ashbury Field followed by Dominican on the 23rd. The Wildcats will conclude the month of March when they travel to East Region top seed Adelphi on the 31st.

The women start the month of April at home when Jefferson and Chestnut Hill come to town starting April 2 and 4. They will have seven more CACC contests and one non-conference matchup against Queens (N.Y.) before ending the regular season. WilmU will head to Concordia, Post, USciences, Queens, and Felician, while hosting 2018 CACC Champion Caldwell, Nyack, and Goldey-Beacom. Senior day will be held on the last home game of the regular season when cross-town rival Goldey-Beacom comes to town on Thursday, April 18.

The Wildcats look to be back in the top eight to head back into the CACC Tournament, which will be hosted by Georgian Court University starting May 2, with a champion crowned on May 4.
