CC Riojas Earns Fourth ECC Rookie of the Week Award

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. - - For the fourth time this season, and fifth time overall for the Wilmington University bowling team, the Wildcats earned the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week award, as freshman CC Riojas was honored again by the conference office Wednesday.

CC Riojas (San Antonio, Texas/Brennan) has earned the ECC Weekly Award on October 24, November 7, and November 21, before again being named the ECC Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.

Riojas led the Wildcats with a 13th place finish at the Hawk Flight Invite in Traditional matches on Saturday. She bowled a strike in 66.7 percent of her traditional tries. Riojas had matches of 235-159-223-244-201-198 for a 1,260 six-match total, good enough for a 210.0 average. She bowled a 21.00 frame average in her six matches, picking up 40 strikes.

As the team's anchor in the Baker matches, the freshman finished with a 21.52 10th frame average in 23 10th frame attempts. She had 46 strikes (60.5 percent strike rate) in the Baker format, picking up 24 double strikes. She finished with a 19.89 frame average.

Riojas and the Wildcats will have one more regular season tournament to prepare for the postseason. The Wildcats host the Northeast Region Roundup this weekend at the Bowlerama in New Castle, Del.
