MILLSBORO, Del. - - The Wilmington University bowling team completed its fall season Sunday at the highly competitive Eastern Shor Hawk Classic on Sunday, winning its final match to place 13th overall in the three-day tournament at Millsboro Lanes.

The tournament, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, had 15 teams in attendance, with all 15 teams being mentions in The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason National Poll, including five Top 10 teams and 13 teams in the Top 25.

On Sunday, the Wildcats entered the best of seven Bracket play as the 12th seed in the tournament. The Wildcats came out firing on all cylinders in the opening game against the hosts, No. 20 UMES, winning the first game, 238-139. But the Hawks battled back and took the next four games to earn the best of seven win, 4-1.

The Wildcats then squared off against No. 19 Monmouth, staying alive with a 222-196 victory in the fourth game, but the Hawks defeated the Wildcats, 4-1, once again.

With one final game for the tournament, the Wildcats faced St. Francis (N.Y.) who received votes in the NTCA Preseason Poll, much like the Wildcats did back in October. The Wildcats had a match high 191 in the fourth game, sweeping the Terriers to earn 13th place in the final standings.

The Wildcats will enjoy the holiday season away from match competition and return to action on January 15 when they compete in the Garden State Classic.
