NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's bowling team was once again one of the top teams in the country in the classroom, earning a spot on the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Academic list for the 2021-2022 academic year.

The NTCA recognizes NCAA bowling teams that excel academically each year. Programs must have a cumulative team GPA of a 3.2 or higher for the academic school year and be a current member of the NTCA. 52 bowling programs achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher with the list below.

The Wildcats won the East Coast Conference Tournament Championship and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history. They went on to defeat defending National Champion and the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Nebraska, in the first round. In the classroom, the Wildcats finished with a 3.270 team GPA, ranking as the 41st best in the NCAA.  

The 2021-22 highest team GPA award goes to Delaware State University with an impressive 3.830 cumulative GPA.

Individually, the Wildcats had three standout student-athletes who earned a spot on the NTCA All-Academic list. The Wildcats' Desiree Dent, Rachel Hirst, and Malia Stout all made the grade for a spot on the All-Academic list.

The NTCA recognizes student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom throughout the academic year. This year there are 397 honorees, representing NCAA bowling programs at 67 schools. A student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic school year to qualify for this award. The National Tenpin Coaches Association is privileged to recognize outstanding academic achievement by our student-athletes.
