Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Headline CACC Players of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – With the start of the spring's sports just one week in, the Wilmington University athletic department earned five Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the conference this afternoon.

Headlined by both men's and women's lacrosse teams, included freshman Logan Stinson, who earned CACC Rookie of the Week, and junior Noah Given, who earned CACC Goalkeeper of the Week on the men's side. On the women's side, Lashay Ross was named CACC Player of the Week, as teammates Brooke Siebert earned CACC Defensive Player of the Week, and Tori Grubowski earned CACC Goalkeeper of the Week.

Logan Stinson had a career-start for the Wildcats this past week, scoring five goals on nine shots and dishing out three assists for eight points in Wilmington's 12-11 win over Roberts Wesleyan. He also scored one goal in the Wildcats 15-8 win over the University of the District of Columbia to finish out the week. Throughout both games, the freshman attacker had 3.00 goals per game, 7.00 shots per game, 1.50 assists per game, and 4.50 points per game. Stinson also finished with a .429 shot percentage and a .714 shot on goal percentage.

Junior goalkeeper Noah Given earned the nod as CACC Goalkeeper of the Week after collecting 31 saves and allowing just 17 goals. In the first game of the season, Given made 12 saves to help WilmU escape with a one-goal victory. In the final game of the week, he made 19 saves on 32 shots, while allowing only six goals for a .760 save percentage. Given finished out the week with a .646 save percentage, and a 9.09 goals against average while playing 112:15 minutes in the net.

The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team was led by red shirt senior Lashay Ross who had seven goals, four assists, and 11 points for the Wildcats. She helped WilmU defeat Barton in the first game of the season, scoring five goals with three assists for eight points, including five ground balls and four draw controls. Ross netted two goals and had one assist, including a free position goal, along with three ground balls, one draw control, and four caused turnovers. The midfielder ended the week with 3.50 goals per game, 7.50 shots per game, 2.00 assists per game, and 5.50 points per game, while having a .800 shot on goal percentage.

Junior Brooke Siebert recorded 18 draw controls, seven ground balls, and had six caused turnovers to become CACC Defensive Player of the Week. Siebert had 11 draw controls, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers in the Wildcats 17-5 win over Barton. She also recorded four ground balls, seven draw controls, and had three caused turnovers against Millersville. The junior midfielder also finished with four goals and one assist for the week.

Sophomore Tori Grubowski finished out the weekly awards earning CACC Goalkeeper of the Week after making 24 saves in the net. Against Barton, she made 10 saves, while allowing just five goals for a .667 save percentage, before making 14 saves against Millersville. She ended the week with a 12.50 goals against average and a .490 save percentage.

Among the weekly honorees, men's basketball Jermaine Head, along with baseball's Dan Hyatt, and men's lacrosse's Jacob Herman all earned a spot on this week's Honor Roll. Jermaine Head finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, as Dan Hyatt had seven strikeouts throughout 5.0 innings pitched for a 1.80 ERA. Men's Lacrosse's Jacob Herman had four goals, and four assists for eight points throughout the two games played.
