FLUSHING, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team completed its 2022-23 regular season on Saturday night, falling to Queens (N.Y.), 5-2, at the Queens College Tennis Bubble.

The Wildcats finish the regular season 18-3 overall and now await the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Selection Show on Monday night on NCAA.com to see where they will land in the East Regional Rankings. They went into this week No. 1 in the East.

The combination of Larize Nel and Fenna Swaan won at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, but Queens was able to take the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

The Wildcats got a point by default at No. 6 singles, but couldn't capitalize as the Knights took matches at No. 4, No. 3, and No. 1 singles to take the match.

Jess Purdy gave the Wildcats their second point with a win at No. 2 singles, winning a third set tiebreaker, 10-6, to win the match, 6-2, 4-6, and 10-6. Fenna Swaan then dropped a tough match at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-2, 5-7, to close out the match as Queens won, 5-2.

The NCAA Division II Selection Show is scheduled to air at 8:30 p.m. on NCAA.com. Five teams advance to the Regional Tournament hosted at two different sites. Two Regional Champions move on to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Wildcats won their regional pod last season.
