Troy Donato was named the head coach of the women's tennis team in July 2019, and began his first season at the helm of the Wildcats in the 2019-20 season.

Donato helped lead the Wildcats to a perfect 9-0 fall season, capturing the 2021 CACC Tournament Championship and earning an automatic bid into the NCAA East Regional Championship in the spring. He was named the 2021 CACC Coach of the year and the 2021 USTA Delaware Region College Coach of the Year. He's coached six Wildcats to All-CACC status (two in 2019 and four in 2021), including the 2021 CACC Player of the Year Neus Ramos Moreno. His 2021-22 team earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, hosting a pod. The team defeated No. 5 Le Moyne in the East 1 Regional Championship, 4-0, to advance to their first ever NCAA National Tournament, falling to UIndy in the Round of 16.

Donato is familiar with Wilmington University and the state of Delaware, becoming a Wildcat after two seasons as an assistant coach for Goldey-Beacom. He helped guide the Lightning to the 2017 CACC Tournament Championship and back-to-back NCAA East Regional Tournament appearances. Donato was also an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at West Chester University, and continues to be an Assistant Tennis Professional at the DuPont Country Club, where he’s been for the past five years.

The new head coach was a player himself, winning the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Player of the Year award in 2013 as a sophomore at Immaculata University. He transferred to West Chester to close out his final two years of his collegiate career, going 22-15 overall in singles competition.

Donato graduated from West Chester University with a bachelor’s in exercise science in 2017 and recently earned his MBA in marketing management from Goldey-Beacom.
