WATERBURY, Conn. - - Kacey Affrunti put down 20 terminations to lead the Wilmington University volleyball team to a five-set victory over Post in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross divisional match on Friday afternoon inside the Drubner Center.

Set scores for the match were 25-19, 6-25, 25-18, 20-25, and 15-12.

The Wildcats (12-13, 9-4 CACC) jumped all over the Eagles (6-19, 4-10 CACC) in the fifth set, scoring the first four points while taking as large of leads as 7-2 and 9-4. Heather Pedrick gave the Wildcats match point with her 13th kill of the match, 14-8, but the Eagles rattled off four straight points to claw to within 14-12. But an Eagles service error ended the match, 15-12.

The Wildcats scored the first six points of the match and then broke away from the Eagles with a 6-2 run late in the first set. The Eagles scored eight of the first 10 points in the second and 13 of the first 16 to cruise to a second set win. Wilmington came back and used a 5-0 run to take a 21-12 lead to eventually win the third set and lead, 2-1. An early 8-1 run by the Eagles allowed the home team to jump out big, and then led 21-13 before winning 25-20, to extend the match in the fourth.

Kacey Affrunti had a season high 20 kills on Friday afternoon, committing just three errors on 36 swings to finish with a .472 attack percentage. Heather Pedrick was the only other Wildcat with double digit kills, ending with 13 while also only committing three errors and hitting .256. Katie Bushong passed out 43 assists while Elly Collins and Brice Hansen led with 16 digs each.

The Wildcats have little time to celebrate the victory, as they turn around and play Bridgeport on the road on Saturday afternoon. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
