Four Wilmington Women’s Basketball Student-Athletes Named to 2014-15 CACC Winter All-Academic Team

Four Wilmington University women’s basketball student-athletes were named to the 2014-15 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Winter All-Academic Team, as announced by commissioner Dan Mara.

The CACC recorded a record of 44 student-athletes to the Winter All-Academic Team between men and women’s basketball teams from the 14 conference schools. The record broke the old mark of 39, set last year.

The Wildcats had two returners from last year’s Winter All-Academic team as seniors Jennifer Carr and Taylor Carter were repeat selections. Senior Cari Callaway earned a spot on the team for the first time, as did sophomore Jocelyn Rodriguez.

Rodriguez (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth’s) led the quartet with a 3.76 GPA while studying Behavioral Science at Wilmington University. Carr (Federalsburg, Md./Delmar) has totaled a 3.67 GPA in Sports Management, Carter (Baltimore, Md./Western) has totaled a 3.54 GPA in Sports Management, and Callaway (Newark, Del./Christiana) has totaled a 3.50 GPA in Sports Management.

Women’s basketball led the championship sports with 30 honorees, while men’s basketball produced 14. Thirteen (13) of 44 were named to the Winter All-Academic Team for the second time in their career, while seven were honored for the third time.

The Wildcats went 8-20 this past season, 6-13 inside the CACC. They surpassed their overall win total from last season and recorded the most wins since the 2009-10 season.
