Lunding Named Golfer of the Year; Russo Rookie of the Year; Jennings Coach of the Year as CACC Announces 2015 All-CACC Golf Team

Heading into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament, the Wilmington University golf team was honored with major awards and All-CACC members, as announced by the conference commissioner Dan Mara.

The Wildcats nearly swept the major awards, led by 2015 CACC Golfer of the Year Andreas Lunding and 2015 CACC Rookie of the Year Joey Russo. For the fourth year in a row, Wilmington head coach Harry Jennings was voted as the 2015 BSN Sports/CACC Coach of the Year. Felician College took home the 2015 CACC Men’s Golf Team Sportsmanship Award to wrap up the major award winners.

It is the second year in a row Wilmington has earned three of the four major awards, claiming the CACC Golfer, Rookie, and Coach of the Year in 2014 as well.

The Wildcats also placed five members on the All-CACC team, led by Lunding and Russo. Student-athletes are selected All-CACC by the official player rankings report produced by GolfStat the end of the regular season, with the Top-10 ranked players in the conference earning All-CACC.

Joining Lunding and Russo as All-CACC is sophomore Freddy Braun, senior Alexander Lautenschlaeger, and reigning CACC Rookie of the Year Sam Clark. Braun, Clark, and Lunding were named All-CACC last year as well. For Lunding, this is his third All-CACC honor as he was also named CACC Rookie of the Year in 2013 as well.

The Wildcats look for their fifth consecutive CACC Tournament Championship next week as they compete against the other nine conference schools in the year-end tournament. The tournament begins on Tuesday, April 21 at the Blue Bell Country Club in Blue Bell, Pa., hosted by Chestnut Hill College. A champion will be crowned after the second round on Wednesday, April 22.
