NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Wilmington University placed 221 student-athletes on the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Academic Honor Roll, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. A total of 2,162 honorees across the CACC made the list which recognizes student-athletes who earned a term grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2023 semester.

Moving forward, this new initiative will be announced twice a year during the academic calendar and will recognize student-athletes at each of the conference's 12 member schools that earn a GPA of 3.0 or better during each of the fall and spring semesters. Cumulative GPAs that make up the traditional CACC All-Academic Teams will not factor into the new Academic Honor Roll -- just that particular semester's GPA. Student-athletes who reach the minimum GPA threshold each semester, and are listed on the institution's official squad list for their respective sport, will earn CACC Academic Honor Roll status.

The initiative was constructed by members of the CACC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FAR) group, and approved by the league's Presidents' Council. FARs are a vital component of each institution's athletic department as the faculty member serves as a liaison between athletic administrators/coaches/student-athletes and academic administrators/faculty.

"The CACC and its member schools work extremely hard in making sure that student-athletes excel in the classroom," CACC Commissioner Dan Mara said. "The total number of individuals on the Academic Honor Roll illustrates the tremendous effort put forth by administrators throughout our conference in mentoring student-athletes and teaching them that a college education will take them even further then they thought possible. Our student-athletes are learning valuable life lessons by achieving tremendous success in the classroom."

Each of the CACC's member institutions were represented on the Academic Honor Roll, as three levels of academic achievement were highlighted. Individuals who earned fall semester GPAs of 3.0-3.49 were placed at the Commissioner's Level, while athletes attaining 3.50-3.99 marks were placed on the Presidents' Level. Student-athletes earning perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall were lauded as FAR Award of Distinction honorees.

In all, 296 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall, while 1,126 more achieved grades at the Presidents' Level. An additional 740 were tabbed on the Commissioner's Level.

Eleven of the 12 schools had more than 100 student-athletes make the honor roll, including four who topped the 200 mark (Wilmington University 221 | Dominican University 213 | Georgian Court University 211 | Felician University 206).
