Six Wildcats Garner All-CACC Baseball Honors; Harris Named Pitcher of the Year

NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that Joe Harris (Daniel Boone HS/Douglassville, PA), Mike Godwin (A.I. DuPont HS/Hockessin, DE), Bryan Miller (Gateway Regional HS/Westville, NJ), Bryan Short (Pope Paul VI HS/Ashburn, VA), JT Gregory (Gar-Field HS/Woodbridge, VA), and Kurt Bruce (Patuxent HS/Lusby, MD) have earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors for their performances this past season.

Harris, a junior left-handed pitcher, was named CACC Pitcher of the Year, after posting a 6-1 record with a 1.83 ERA.  A first-team All-CACC selection, he led the conference in strikeouts, and finished fourth in earned run average.  Harris ranked 12th in Division II in ERA, 13th in fewest hits per nine innings, and 14th in strikeouts, while throwing three complete games.

Godwin, Miller, Short, and Gregory were also First-Team All-CACC Selections.  Godwin, a sophomore catcher, led the team in runs scored, RBI, doubles, home runs, and total bases, while hitting at a .346 clip.  He was second in the CACC in runs scored, third in home runs, fourth in total bases, and tenth in hitting.  Miller, a junior designated hitter, led the team in doubles and triples, while finishing third on the team in hitting (.351).  Short, a senior utility player, led the team in stolen bases (22).  He was second on the squad in hitting (.353), was seventh in the conference in hitting.  Gregory, a senior relief pitcher, led the CACC in saves (9), while sporting a 1-1 record with a 1.35 ERA.

Bruce, a junior right-handed pitcher, earned Second-Team All-Conference honors after going 7-1 with a 3.75 ERA.  He was second in the CACC in victories, and was ranked 40th in Division II in fewest hits per nine innings. 

These six Wildcats helped lead the Wildcats to the regular season CACC Championship, with a conference record of 16-4 and an overall mark of 28-16.  Wilmington has been regionally ranked all season, and will be the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament, hosted by the 'Cats later this week.
