Wilmington’s Jamie Treml Named Second Team Capital One Academic All-American

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - - Junior left-handed pitcher Jamie Treml was selected to the second team of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Division II Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The business management major with a 3.70 grade point average, Treml is the first Wilmington University baseball team member to earn Academic All-America status. Treml becomes the third Wildcat student-athlete to be named Capital One Division II Academic All-American, following softball's Katie Warrington (twice), and volleyball's Brittany Biddle in years' past.

The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 Division II Academic All-America teams program.

Treml led the baseball team to a 35-11-1 overall record and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season championship with a 17-3 conference record. The Wildcats earned an at-large bid into their fourth straight NCAA Division II East Regional Tournament, led by Treml's perfect 9-0 record. He also pitched seven scoreless innings against St. Thomas Aquinas to earn a win in the first game of the Regional Tournament.

On the diamond, Treml led the CACC with a 0.96 earned run average in 11 appearances, pitching 47 innings on the season. He struck out 58 batters while being a par of four shutouts on the mound, finishing third in the CACC in averaging 11.11 strikeouts per game.

Treml has one class left in order to graduate, with a season of eligibility remaining under his belt. Treml earned a medical redshirt for the 2013 season, allowing him to play a fifth season in 2015 while also starting graduate school.

The lefty pitcher was also a Third Team Daktronics All-American, First Team Daktronics All-East Region, Second Second NCBWA All-East Region, Second Team ABCA All-East Region, and First Team All-CACC performer for his play during his junior season.

Fellow CACC member Joe Petosa was also named Second Team Academic All-American for Felician, rounding out the East Region school members on the Second Team.
