Baseball Earns No. 4 Seed in East Regional Tournament; Will Play No. 5 NYIT Hosted by Adelphi

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University baseball team could sit back and enjoy the NCAA Division II Baseball Selection Show, as it knew it was in the field, but they learned who and where as the NCAA announced the field of 56 participants on Sunday night.

The Wildcats (38-16) won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and will be the Fourth Seed in the NCAA DII East 1 Regional Tournament, playing Fifth Seed NYIT on Thursday on the campus of Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y.

The Wildcats and Bears (32-14) will square off on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on William J. Bonomo Memorial Field in Garden City, N.Y.

Top seeded Adelphi will play eighth seeded Franklin Pierce in the first game of the regional tournament on Thursday at 12:00 p.m.

New to NCAA DII Baseball, each region will have two regional brackets hosted on campus sites. The winners of the two regional pods will meet the following week in a best of three Super Regional series for the right to go to the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Competing in the East 2 Regional and hosted in Manchester, New Hampshire, will be No. 2 Southern New Hampshire, No. 3 LIU Post, No. 6 Felician, and No. 7 Assumption.
