Baseball Claims Top Spot in South Division in 2020 CACC Preseason Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The two-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Tournament Champions are expected to be in the thick of the race once again in 2020, being voted atop the South Division for the third year in a row, as the conference office announced the CACC Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats earned 10 first place votes and totaled 65 points overall to claim the top spot in the South Division. It is the third year in a row, and the ninth time in the last 10 years, that the Wildcats were picked first in the CACC Preseason Poll. They've been picked first every year except 2017, in which they were selected second in the South Division.

Chestnut Hill picked up the other two first place votes in the South Division, capturing 54 points to claim second. Bloomfield, who rotated with Felician and will now in the South Division for three years, and Jefferson are tied for third place with 36 points each. Goldey-Beacom earned 31 points for fifth and USciences rounds out the South Division with 24 points.

Now in the North Division, Felician took home 10 first place votes and 64 total points to top the other side. Dominican had a first place vote and 53 total points for second while Post earned the other first place vote and 51 total points for third. Caldwell rounds out the predicted playoff teams with 28 points for fourth while Concordia takes fifth with 27 points. Nyack rounds out the North with 23 points.

New to the CACC scheduled this year, all conference games will be two seven-inning doubleheaders. The top four teams from each division at the end of the regular season will play a single nine-inning play-in game at the higher seed. The four winning teams from that round will head to Post to take part in the double-elimination CACC Tournament.
